Igors Udodovs has been appointed as the Director of the Ventspils Freeport. Previously, he served as Acting Director, Deputy Director, and Head of the Marketing and Development Department. Udodovs assumed his new position on the 1st of March.
Udodovs holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Ventspils University of Applied Sciences and has participated in additional port and business development training programmes in Germany, Belgium, China and Israel.
He has been working at the Ventspils Freeport Authority since 2001, beginning his career as a marketing specialist. In 2003, he became Head of the Marketing and Development Department. Since 2014, he has served as Deputy Director of the Freeport Authority while continuing to lead the Marketing and Development Department.
Alongside his work at the Freeport Authority, Udodovs has gained broad professional experience by participating in various local and national working groups, commissions and councils, including within the Ventspils municipality and educational institutions, as well as in the development of Latvia’s National Development Plan for 2021–2027.
He has contributed to initiatives promoting regional development, innovation and the business environment in Ventspils.
In 2015, he received the Ventspils City Council Award for his contribution to attracting investment, developing the Ventspils Business Incubator and purposefully strengthening the industrial sector of the Ventspils Freeport.
The Director of the Ventspils Freeport ensures the execution of the Freeport Authority’s functions and manages its operations, which are overseen by the highest decision-making body — the Freeport Board. According to the Board’s decision, the employment contract with the Director is signed by the Chairperson of the Freeport Board.
Ventspils Freeport is Latvia’s second-largest port by cargo turnover at terminals and one of the country’s largest industrial centres.
