Natural gas consumption in Latvia going down

The volume of natural gas consumed in Latvia declined by 34.5% in the first seven months of 2022, according to data published by the Central Statistical Bureau of Latvia.
The biggest drop when compared to last year was observed in July, when natural gas consumption dropped by 66.8%, reaching 201 702 MWh.
A considerable drop in natural gas consumption was also observed in June, when 201 495 MWh of natural gas was consumed, which is 58.1% less when compared to June 2021.

A total of 5.056 TWh of natural gas was consumed in Latvia in the first seven months of 2022.

In May there was a 32.6% drop in natural gas consumption, it reaching 333 096 MWh. In April there was a 21.2% drop, gas consumption reaching 627 447 MWh. In March there was a 30% drop, gas consumption reaching 1 015 TWh.
Compared to February 2021, natural gas consumption dropped by 42.3%, reaching 1 097 TWh in February 2022. The drop in January was 20.8%.
Last year the total volume of natural gas consumed in Latvia was 12 707 TWh (7 725 TWh in the first seven months).
