The National Alliance (NA) will not participate in the negotiations between the existing coalition and the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) and Progressives, Transport Minister Jānis Vitenbergs (NA) and MP Jānis Dombrava (NA) informed.
Vitenbergs said the format of these talks was not clear to the NA.
“Maybe next time Rosļikovs’ party will be invited, it is unnecessary to waste time in such strange negotiation formats,”
noted the politician.
NA continues to work in the coalition, five tasks have been identified, and NA is ready to work on these tasks, Vitenbergs emphasized.
NA politician Jānis Dombrava also told the media that his party won’t participate in talks aimed at expanding the coalition.
NA expects a clear position from PM Krišjānis Kariņš whether he supports the work of the current three-party coalition or has decided to act differently.
Edgars Tavars, the chairman of the Combined List (AS), Edgars Tavars, also emphasized to the media that the AS will not participate in the “circus” of coalition expansion negotiations. Talks are planned for Friday, the 16th of June at 2 in the afternoon.
Before that, combined list will participate in the coalition cooperation meeting.
The Prime Minister has invited representatives of all five parties – New Unity, AS, NA, ZZS, and Progressives – to the talks.
Tavars emphasized that unless the PM drops the idea to discuss the expansion of the coalition, the AS will not participate in such a play with those who tried to overthrow the government.
On Thursday, the 15th of June, ZZS and Progresīvie voted for the resignation of the current government.
As reported, JV, NA, and AS are currently working in the ruling coalition, but after the presidential elections, in which the coalition parties could not agree on support for one candidate, Kariņš has started negotiations on a possible expansion of the coalition with ZZS and Progressives, which NA and AS have so far opposed.
Kariņš has previously stated that he wants the expansion of the coalition in order to achieve smoother work in organizing the school network, improving the health care situation, labor issues, moving state-owned capital companies to the stock exchange and social issues, that is, the ratification of the Istanbul Convention is necessary “as a symbolic but deeply important Saeima gesture” and the execution of the decision of the Constitutional Court, which is related to the regulation of civil union.
