Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s aide, Yuri Ushakov, on Thursday, the 13th of March, negatively assessed the US proposal to declare a 30-day ceasefire in Russia’s war against Ukraine, claiming that it would merely give the Ukrainian army a respite.
“It would be nothing more than a temporary break for the Ukrainian army,” Ushakov said after a phone call with US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, speaking to Russian propaganda outlets.
He added that Putin might offer a more specific and substantive evaluation of the US proposal later on Thursday.
Ushakov also stated that Russia is seeking a “long-term peace solution” that would ensure Moscow’s “legitimate interests.”
“Any steps that would imitate peace efforts, in my opinion, are unnecessary in the current situation,” he added, once again confirming that Putin’s totalitarian regime does not want peace and is not willing to step back from its absurd demands.
