More than 4 000 Ukrainian refugee children study at Latvian schools

Currently more than 4 190 Ukrainian war refugee children study at Latvian schools, according to information from the Ministry of Education and Science.
2 861 Ukrainian children study at general education schools. 1 354 study at national minority schools and 1 501 study in Latvian state language. Six children study in other categories at general education institutions.
1 329 Ukrainian children study at kindergartens, including 395 at national minority kindergartens and 919 study education programmes in state language. Five children study in other categories at kindergartens.

The majority of Ukrainian children going to kindergartens and general education institutions are concentrated in Riga, where 2 065 children from Ukraine attend different schools.

Valmiera is second with 161 Ukrainian children and Ventspils with 160 children.
