Monument to Ukrainian hero Oleksandr Matsiievskyi unveiled in Kyiv

On Armed Forces Day, the 6th of December, a monument was unveiled in Kyiv to the Ukrainian hero Oleksandr Matsiievskyi, a soldier who was captured by Russians near Soledar in Donetsk region and after he said “Glory to Ukraine,” he was shot dead. The monument was erected on the grounds of the National Museum of History and Architecture “Kyiv Fortress”, reports Ukrinform.
His mother, Paraska Matsiievska-Demchuk, and his wife, Yulia Matsiievska, attended the unveiling ceremony.

The sculptors, who worked on the project for more than two months, used plasticine, clay, silicone and computer technology to create a realistic sculpture.
Sculptor Oleh Tsos stressed that

the main focus of the artwork was to capture the gaze of the fallen hero.

The sculpture was funded by charitable foundations.
