Monthly fixed fee for family doctor practices to be increased in Latvia

Starting with the 1st of February 2023 Latvian Ministry of Health will increase the monthly fixed payment for family doctor practices, the monthly fixed payment for the second and every subsequent place of reception of family doctor practice, as well as ensure the replacement of medical practitioners employed in the family doctor practice in cases of justified absence.
On Tuesday, the 16th of January, Latvia’s government passed amendments that provide for increasing the monthly fixed payment for family doctor practices, including the risk payment, from EUR 730.73 to EUR 1 000 a month, monthly fixed payment for the second and each subsequent place of admission from EUR 216.88 to EUR 400 per month.
The ministry notes that amendments to the agreement between the National Health Service and family doctors on provision and payment for primary healthcare services will be added, crossing out the paragraph of the agreement on requesting financing for the replacement of family doctors in the amount of 100% of the one-month capital money of the family doctor.
LETA previously reported that Latvian Minister of Health Hosams Abu Meri promised family doctors that he would work with the government on increasing funding for family doctor practices and replacement of family doctors. It is also planned to continue working in the work group to prepare a report on improving primary healthcare for the next three-four years.
