Meteorologists warn: rain, wind and temperatures dropping to +4°C at the start of the week

Monday will be mostly cloudy with occasional rain, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. A moderate northwesterly to northerly wind will blow, stronger along the coast where gusts may reach 15–19 m/s, and at times up to 20 m/s in the early morning hours.

Air temperatures in western and central regions will rise to +7…+11°C, while in the east it will remain cooler — only +4…+7°C.

On Tuesday, clouds will bring intermittent rain, but in some places skies will clear and the sun may shine. Overnight into Tuesday, fog is expected to form in some areas, locally persisting into the morning.

Wednesday will be mostly cloudy and rainy. A light to moderate northwesterly and westerly wind will prevail, becoming moderately strong along the coast on Tuesday night with gusts of 15–16 m/s.

During the nights, air temperatures will drop to +1…+6°C,

while along the Kurzeme coast it will be slightly milder — +7…+9°C. During the day, temperatures will rise to +6…+12°C.

In the second half of the week, weather conditions will continue to be influenced by cyclonic activity, keeping the weather rainy in many parts of the country. Wind gusts will gradually ease, with a light westerly wind dominating. Air temperatures will remain in the range of +5…+10°C, but over the weekend, colder air masses are expected to move into Latvia, with nighttime temperatures nearing 0°C.
