Meteorologists warn of severe cold in Latvia: nighttime temperatures may drop to –32°C

On Thursday, clouds will gradually clear during the day and the weather will remain dry. A light to moderate northeast to east wind will persist. Maximum air temperatures will range from –8°C to –13°C, while in northwestern regions the day will be slightly milder, with temperatures of –5°C to –8°C.

On Friday night, skies will be mostly clear, with no snowfall expected either overnight or during the day. Nighttime temperatures across most of the country will fall to –18°C to –23°C, while daytime temperatures will range from –10°C to –15°C. In northern Kurzeme, both night and day temperatures will be a few degrees higher. Friday will also be sunny and dry.

On Saturday, skies will remain clear overnight, but variable cloud cover will appear during the day. A light to moderate easterly wind will continue, easing slightly in the eastern part of the country.

The night will be even colder than previous ones,

with temperatures in many central and eastern areas dropping to –25°C to –27°C. However, along much of the Kurzeme coast, temperatures will be higher, at –13°C to –18°C. During the day, air temperatures will rise to –14°C to –19°C, and in many coastal areas even to –9°C to –13°C.

On Sunday and during the first half of next week, the weather is expected to remain dry and cold. In some places at night, temperatures may approach –30°C to –32°C.
