At the beginning of the week, areas in Latvia – mainly eastern parts of the country – may experience short-term rain and even thunderstorms, according to Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Although in the first half of the week air temperature will exceed +20° C, it will become colder at the end of the week.
Meteorologist say there may be a case of cold snap at night.
The wind may also become stronger at the end of the week.
At the beginning of the week the sky may become cloudy. The wind is expected to blow from the north. Wind speed, according to meteorologists, will be slow to medium. On Monday and Tuesday there will be some rain in Latvia’s eastern parts. There is also a possibility of a thunderstorm. At night air temperature may drop as far as +5° C… +11° C, whereas daytime air temperature will likely reach +18° C… +23° C (+15° C… +17° C along the coast).
Weather will be dry and calm in the middle of the week. Wind speed will be slow. At night air temperature will be between +9° C… +14° C. Daytime air temperature will reach +18° C… +24° C. It may be a couple of degrees cooler close to bodies of water.
Some rain is expected at the end of the week. Wind speed will increase as well. With colder masses of air flowing to the country, air temperature will go down. Nights will be colder, with air temperature dropping as far as +4° C… +6° C. Daytime air temperature may vary between +13° C… +18° C.
With weather conditions remaining mostly dry, the risk of fire will be high in most of Latvia. Residents are urged to be responsible and careful when spending time outdoors. Meteorologists remind that the UV index during the day will be moderately high to high. This is why residents are advised to not spend too much time under direct sunlight.
