On Friday and Saturday, skies will be overcast, with occasional light rain and drizzle, while on Saturday rainfall is expected in many places during the day, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
With mainly light southeast and east winds, fog will thicken in some areas during the night, and on Friday it will persist in parts of the eastern regions even during the day, reducing visibility on the roads. Both at night and during the day, air temperatures will remain between +1°C and +6°C.
On Sunday, a low-pressure area will approach from the west, bringing mostly cloudy weather, along with rain and wet snow in many places. Light to moderate southeast and south winds will blow.
Throughout the night and day, temperatures will fluctuate between -1°C and +4°C.
Next week, as cyclone activity strengthens, skies will remain cloudy, and several precipitation zones will move across the country from the west, bringing mostly rain and, in some areas, wet snow. From midweek, winds will increase, becoming gusty in places along the coast. Air temperatures will stay above freezing both day and night, although at the end of the week nighttime temperatures in some eastern regions may again drop below 0°C.
