Meteorologists promise less precipitation on Friday and Lāčplēsis Day; water level to rise

Thursday, the 9th of October, will be cloudy with moments of clear sky, as reported by Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre. At times there will be short-term rain. The wind will be slow to moderate and will blow from the south.
Meteorologists also warn that water level in Daugava River basin and several rivers in Kurzeme will continue rapidly going up.
While air temperature on Thursday night went as far down as +3° C… +9° C, it is still expected to be only slightly warmer during the day, as air temperature will likely reach +6° C… +10° C.
At the end of the work week there will be moments of clear sky. Some precipitation is expected as well. While on Friday and Lāčplēsis Day there will be little precipitation,

Sunday is expected to be rainy again.

Air temperature will not change much: at night it will drop to +3° C… +8° C and during the day it will reach +6° C… +9° C.
At the beginning of the week weather will be dictated by cyclone activity. This means more precipitation. Rain will be joined by wet snow, because from mid-week onward weather will become drier. With colder masses of air flowing to the country, air temperature will continue going down. A slight frost is expected.
November started off in Latvia with rich precipitation in basins of multiple rivers in Latvia. In Daugava River precipitation has caused intensive rise of the water level.
Yesterday the water level in Daugava River basin went up:

in Suraža to Jēkabpils the water level went up by 7 to 32 cm.

In other areas of Daugava River water level went up by 1… 25 cm, except Rezekne, where water level went down by 10 cm.
In Gauja River the water level near Velēna the water level went down by 6 cm. Near Valmiera the water level went up by 7 cm.
In Lielupe River basin the water level varied – in Mežotne to Staļģene area the water level went up by 2… 4 cm, and from Jelgava to Sloka it went down by 3… 4 cm.
The water temperature on Wednesday morning in rivers, lakes and water reservoirs was +6° C… +9° C. Water temperature in the Baltic Sea and Gulf of Riga was +7° C… +9° C.
Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre predicts: weather in the coming days will remain warm and rainy. Water levels in rivers will continue going up because of precipitation.
