Last week weather was warm and at times air temperature reached +27° C, as reminded by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
The end of the week was even hotter – at times air temperature in Latvia reached +31° C… +32° C on Sunday, the 16th of July.
The centre explains that this level of heat this week, because a cold atmospheric front crossed Latvia between Sunday and Monday. Colder masses of air flowed to the country. Air temperature will drop. Maximum air temperature will not go above +17° C… +22° C.
It will rain from time to time. In the first half of the week, however,
there will also be thunderstorms and strong wind.
On Monday clouds will appear every now and then. Short-term rain will appear in the afternoon in western and central regions. There is also a possibility of a thunderstorm. The wind will be slow to moderate and will blow from the south-west and west. Wind speed may be especially strong during storms. Daytime air temperature will reach +22° C… +26° C (+27° C… +29° C in south-eastern regions).
On Tuesday weather in Latvia will be sunny with moments of rain. Lightning and thunder are expected in morning hours. At night, wind in most of the country will be slow. During the day wind speed will increase and will blow from the west and north-west. In Kurzeme and along the cost the wind will be strong. With colder masses of air flowing to the country, air temperature at night is expected between +14° C… +18° C, whereas daytime air temperature is expected between +18° C… +23° C.
In the days that follow whether will be both sunny and cloudy, with moments of rain in-between. Nights will become a couple of degrees cooler – minimal night-time air temperature is expected at +11° C… +16° C, whereas daytime air temperature will not exceed +23° C. The wind will remain slow to moderate in speed. Wind speed along the coast on Wednesday night will increase to 15 m/sec.
