On Wednesday, the 24th of January, the sky will be mostly covered by clouds. Rain is expected in most of Latvia at night. Wet snow is expected in eastern parts of the country. A wide precipitation zone will pass through Latvia from the west, bringing snow, wet snow and even rain in western and central regions, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
Heavy snowfall is expected in eastern parts of the country. In western parts of Latvia meteorologists predict heavy rain. Roads will remain slippery and visibility will go down to 500-1 000 m! At night the wind will blow from the west and south-west. During the day the wind will blow at a speed of 15-19 m/sec. At night and during the day air temperature will be 0° C… +4° C.
In the coming days, weather conditions will remain similar and will remain influenced by cyclones.
Weather will be cloudy with moments of precipitation and strong wind, which will be especially strong along the coast. With warmer masses of air flowing to the country, precipitation will consists mostly of rain and wet snow. Air temperature will remain similar during the day and at night: around -3° C… +3° C. Air temperature will dip below this range only in some areas, meteorologists say.
According to current forecasts, atmospheric pressure will go up on the weekend and weather will become more favourable – precipitation will calm down and the wind will become slower. Although clothes will stay dry and the wind will no longer blow in the face, air temperature will go down to -9° C… -11° C in eastern parts of the country.
A new cyclone will dictate weather conditions next week – precipitation will come again and air temperature will go up.
