Meteorologists predict frosty weather in Latvia this week

This week’s weather will remain unchanged in Latvia – the entire week will be cold, as air temperature at night may drop as far as -15° C, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
From mid-week onward, as anti-cyclone activity increases, precipitation will calm down and the layer of snow will not go up in the country.
Meteorologists note that at the beginning of the week there will be some snowfall in many areas in Latvia. On Monday, the 4th of December, Kurzeme and Vidzeme will experience heavy snowfall, which will likely increase the layer of snow in those areas by 5 – 8 cm. Snowing is also expected on Tuesday as well. Air temperature will fall to -7° C… -14° C at night in most of the country. Daytime air temperature will not go higher than -2° C… +7° C. It is expected to be slightly warmer along the coast.
In the middle of the week, as atmospheric pressure goes up, weather will remain cold and precipitation will calm down. This means the layer of snow is not expected to go up in most of the country. The wind will be slow and will blow from the east. Air temperature will drop by a couple of degrees – at night air temperature in most of the country will be -10° C… -15° C. On Thursday the direction of the wind will change, bringing short-term snowfall to coastal areas.
The end of the week will pass without any significant precipitation. However, air temperature may drop by a couple of degrees more.
