Meta creates an app that will compete with Twitter

Facebook’s parent company Meta plans to launch a new social platform that will compete with the popular platform Twitter, writes the BBC.
Called Threads, the app is already available for pre-order in the Apple App Store, and Meta plans to launch the app as early as Thursday, the 6th of July. Meta describes the new app as a text-based conversational app.
The announcement of the app is the latest move in the competitive battle between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Twitter owner Elon Musk.
Meanwhile, Twitter has announced that it will make TweetDeck, a popular Twitter feature, a paid service.

On Saturday, the 1st of July, the millionaire also limited the number of records that users can view for free,

citing “massive data collection.”
The app, which looks very similar to Twitter, will, like other Meta apps, collect data from users’ phones, including location information, purchases, and browsing history.
Until now, several apps have appeared that try to compete with Twitter, but the most serious competitor to Twitter will be Threads. Zuckerberg has borrowed ideas from other companies before, and most of them are competitive.

Meta also has the necessary resources to compete with Twitter.

Threads will be part of Instagram, so the app will be linked to millions of existing user accounts. This means not having to start from scratch like others who want to compete with Twitter.
While Musk has repeatedly affirmed his commitment to free speech, he has also managed to scare away some of the users Zuckerberg is currently counting on.
