In the evening on Tuesday, 12 April, a man was shot dead and another one was wounded in a forest in Riga, not far from Akropole Alfa shopping mall. The murderer remain free at large. Police are currently looking for the suspect.
As reported by State Police Public Relations Office manager Simona Grāvīte, shortly before 19:30 police received information of a one man shot dead and another wounded in a forest in Riga, near Stāmerienas Street. The wounded man was delivered to a hospital. The suspect, however, left the scene of the crime.
After receiving information about the incident, police immediately initiated the plan Trap. A large police force was organised to search for and apprehend the suspect.
According to LETA, police had surrounded an apartment house not far from Akropole Alfa shopping mall in the evening on Tuesday. Several police officers armed with automatic firearms entered the building. It is unknown if this operation is related to the murder that took place in the nearby forest.
State Police are searching for the man on the photo. Anyone with information about this person’s whereabouts are urged to report this information to the police by calling 110 or 2989396.
Police stress the man may be dangerous, and residents should not try to apprehend him on their own.
