Latvians, Lithuanians and the Polish all stand in long queues outside the Belarusian border, asking to be let in to shop for buckwheat and salt, said President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko in his Orthodox Easter speech.
«In the name of peace, normal life and friendship I would like to turn to our neighbours: «Let’s live in harmony!’ I would also like to ask my colleagues politicians to not create problems for our people! We have enough to deal with,» said Lukashenko in his speech.
«Look at what’s happening with our neighbours – Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, let alone Ukraine. They were so happy, lived in affluent peace, they had everything… They had everything and we had nothing – where are they now? They stand outside our borders and ask to be let in Belarus to at least buy some buckwheat. They don’t even have salt! They ask us to give them salt,» said the president of Belarus.

It should be said here that Latvia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs invites citizens to refrain from visiting Belarus in spite of the opportunity to travel there visa-free, which is a regime the Belarusian State Border Guard Committee announced for the period between 15 April and 15 May.
The ministry notes that travel to Belarus creates major risks. Latvian citizens are invited to leave Belarus and Russia.
