LTV: police detain Latvian publicist Lato Lapsa for multiple violations

On Thursday, the 30th of January, Latvian State Police detained some person for disclosing details of a criminal case, illegal activities using private person’s data, money laundering or legalisation of other property, as well as defamation, as reported by LSM.LV.

According to information from LTV, the detained person is Latvian publicist Lato Lapsa.

LTV could not reach Lapsa, as his phone is turned off.

In May 2024, the verdict of Vidzeme Regional Court in a different criminal case came into force. This ruling found Lapsa guilty of harassment and defamation committed against attorney Romualds Vonsovičs. Lapsa was sentenced to 300 hours of community service for that.

Lapsa called this criminal case a political, economical or criminal order.
