The number of Wagner PMC mercenaries in Belarus is going down, as journalists were told by Lithuanian Minister of Defence Arvydas Anusauskas.
“Based on open sources [available information], I can say there is a dynamic drop [in the number of Wagner mercenaries],” he told journalists.
“They are distributed across different territories. Some travel to Russia for vacation or are recruited by other military companies,” said the minister.
“The situation is completely different than it was three weeks ago,” he added.
In the beginning of August Lithuania and Poland reported that there are approximately 4 000 Wagner PMC mercenaries in Belarus, who had arrived there after a failed uprising in Russia. Wagner leader Yevgeni Prigozhin died in an aircraft catastrophe at the end of August. Some believe it was planned by the Kremlin.
