Lithuania to lift self-quarantine rule for Covid-19 contact persons

Lithuania has seen a decrease in new Covid-19 cases and has opted to lift the rule of self-isolation for people, who have come into contact with a person, who has been confirmed to have the novel coronavirus, Lithuanian public broadcaster LRT reports.
As of Wednesday, February 23, only Lithuanians, who have themselves tested positive for the disease will be required to self-quarantined.
Until now, self-isolation was mandatory for people if someone in their household was diagnosed with Covid-19.

The ministry reasoned that the rule is hard to enforce, because people were reluctant to disclose members of their household to public health authorities. «The decision to give up mandatory self-isolation also follows from the improving epidemiological situation. We have been observing a decline in Covid-19 infections, a slow-down in the spread of the pandemic,» the ministry wrote in a statement.
However, people, who have been exposed to the infection are still recommended to observe their health, test themselves, wear facemasks and switch to remote working, if possible.
