Lithuania begins evacuation of Baltic citizens from Israel

On Tuesday, Lithuania began evacuating citizens of the Baltic states from Israel, according to Lithuanian public radio.
Citizens of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia are being transported by three buses from Tel Aviv to Jordan, from where they will later be flown to Vilnius.
“We offered help to our neighbors as well,” said Vilmantas Vitkauskas, head of Lithuania’s National Crisis Management Center.
“We hope that by around noon or sometime in the early afternoon, all passengers will have reached the border checkpoint,” he added.
As previously reported, Lithuanian authorities decided to carry out the evacuation using a civilian charter flight from Jordan, even though a Lithuanian military transport plane “Spartan” was also deployed to the region.
More than 100 people have registered for evacuation, most of them Lithuanian citizens.
Lithuanian officials noted that the distance to the airport is approximately 350 kilometers, and evacuees are expected to depart from Aqaba Airport in Jordan.
It was earlier reported that Israel launched a military operation on Friday, striking Iran’s nuclear and military targets, and Iran responded with rocket attacks on Israel.
