As of 31 August 2022 the volume of natural gas owned by Latvijas Gāze JSC (LG) in Inčukalns gas storage facility is 0.2946 TWh, as reported by LG chairman Aigars Kalvītis.
He stresses that, despite the insufficient volume of gas in Inčukalns and limited gas supply options at the moment, the company continues working on solutions and making sure all clients are properly supplied with gas during the 2022/2023 heating season.
The current situation is that LG does not have enough gas to supply to households.
LG is thereby unable to satisfy the requirement listed in the Energy Law regarding the reserve amounts the company was expected to have made by the end of August – 1.15 TWh.
According to Kalvītis, LG «has developed and has submitted to the Ministry of Economics and Public Utilities Commission proposals and a plan to supply natural gas to users».
As previously reported, LG’s biggest shareholders are Russian Gazprom (34%), Marguerite Gas II.S.a.r.l. (28.97%), German Uniper Ruhrgas International GmbH (18.26%) and Itera Latvija LLC (16%).
