Latvia’s President Egils Levits has been tested positive for Covid-19. Because of this he was forced to postpone a meeting with his Estonian colleague Alar Karis, as reported by Latvian State President’s Chancellery.
In the evening on Wednesday, 13 October, Egils Levits used a Covid-19 express test after returning from Sweden. The test result turned out positive. Today the president will undergo a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test.
President Egils Levits personally contacted Estonia’s President Alar Karis. The two had a meeting scheduled to take place at Riga Castle on 14 October.
Karis agreed to meet with Saeima speaker Ināra Mūrniece instead.
Egils Levits was one of the first state officials who were vaccinated for Covid-19 in Latvia.
