No changes to taxes are currently planned, Latvian Finance Minister Arvils Ašeradens (New Unity) said in an interview with Latvian Television’s Morning Panorama program on Tuesday.
“We are not planning any tax changes,” the minister stated.
He emphasized that the government’s current top priority is to streamline government expenditures.
At the same time, Ašeradens noted that once the issue of optimizing government costs has been resolved,
the possibility of tax changes could be considered.
“The government’s current number one priority is to make its spending more efficient. Once we’ve dealt with that issue, then perhaps this [tax question] can be looked at, but for now, such matters are not being discussed,” said Ašeradens.
