Latvian who converted into Islam accused of glorifying terrorism

Latvian State Security Service (VDD) requests the prosecution office to commence criminal prosecution against a Latvian citizen who converted into Islam for publishing content that promotes and glorifies terrorism, the service reports.
The criminal procedure against a Latvian citizen who converted into Islam was launched on the 14th of August 2024. VDD took notice of the person because of videos posted on TikTok platform. In those videos the person glorified the ideology of Islamic terrorist groups.
VDD uncovered in an investigation that the person is spreading content promoting and glorifying terrorism systematically and intentionally.
VDD previously reported that an in-depth evaluation of the person’s activities, the service found the suspect supporting the terrorist organisation Daesh, as well as his personal commitment to participating in violent acts in the name of Islam.

VDD also has information the person has an increased interest in firearms.

On the 23rd of August VDD performed a search in the person’s home. Multiple data storage devices were confiscated.
