Latvian State Security Service performs search at House of Moscow in Riga

On the 21st and 22nd of December the State Security Service (VDD) performed a search at the House of Moscow on suspicion of alleged violation of the European Union sanctions against Russia.
The search was performed as part of an ongoing criminal procedure originally commenced on the 23rd of November in accordance with Part 1 of Section 84 of the Criminal Law – violation of sanctions imposed by the European Union.
VDD reports it was uncovered in the pre-trial investigation that the management of the House of Moscow may still be benefiting from using premises of the building, the use of which was previously prohibited by international sanctions. Additional investigative activities were performed at the home of one other person.

VDD confiscated a large number of data storage devices and documents during the search.

Currently one person holds the status of a person involved in a criminal procedure.
VDD will provide additional information about the investigation as it continues. VDD reminds that no person is considered guilty until his or her guilt has been proven in accordance with the law.
