Latvian Song Celebration ticket sales expected to bring state budget EUR 7.5 million

Sales of tickets to the XXVII Latvian Song and XVII Dance Celebration are estimated to bring the state budget revenue of EUR 7.5 million, according to the report composed by the Ministry of Culture presented to the government on Tuesday, the 25th of April.
Considering that the approved revenue plan for the celebration is EUR 4.7 million, the revenue of Latvian National Culture Centre (LNKC) from the celebration will increase by EUR 2.7 million, as will expenditures.
LNKC will divert the surplus revenue towards expenditures related to the celebration.
The Ministry of Culture will need to ensure after the XXVII Latvian Song and XVII Dance Celebration in 2023 that all tickets and all revenue generated is to be transferred to the state budget. This will ensure regeneration of finances for the state budget programme for emergencies.
The Latvian government approved the price list for XXVII Latvian Song and XVII Dance Celebration services. Paid services include the admission fee and rent of locations for market stalls on grounds used for the celebration.

The programme of the celebration consists of 53 events: 21 are free of charge,

one partially free, and 30 paid events that will take place in 31 locations.
The ticket price list was composed based on “the need to generate necessary revenue for the state budget, pay for location scouting for various events, and based on the estimates for the various artistic and technical costs”.
To offer any person interested to purchase tickets for events, ticket prices were set between EUR 5 and EUR 100, based on each event’s programme and predicted demand for tickets.
To ensure ticket availability, a -10% discount is provided for entrance tickets for families that hold a Latvian Honorary Family Certificate and 3+ Honour Card holders, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level invalids, as well as politically repressed persons as long as they present a valid certificate.
It is planned to release 68% of tickets on the market and reserve 30% of tickets. The remaining 2% will be reserved for guests of honour and organisers of the Song and Dance Celebration. No VAT is applied to entry tickets.
