The ski resorts in Latvia currently have no plans to close down because of adverse winter weather conditions, as LETA was told by interviewed representatives of ski resorts.
Representatives mentioned that not all ski tracks are open, because weather conditions so far have not been very good to keep more than a handful of tracks available.
“Riekstukalns” co-owner Ervīns Kišuro told LETA that snow production continues at the resort at night. The plan is to open an additional track this week.
Co-owner of “Žagarkalns” ski resort Māris Zvīnis said work on snow production will continue for as long as possible. “Frost is a rare occurrence this winter season and we cannot afford to lose a minute,” he stressed, adding that it is planned to open two more tracks this week.
“Ozolkalns” representative Līga Rokpelne mentioned that the ski resort is hard at work on expanding the existing track and preserving the quality of the layer of snow.
At the same time, the interviewed representatives of ski resorts mentioned demand has been the highest last Sunday, because the snow that fell on the night from Saturday to Sunday, creating great conditions to enjoying winter activities.
