The council of state joint-stock company Latvian Railway (LDz) has accepted the company’s board member Ēriks Šmuksts’ resignation. 15 January will be his last day in this post, as reported by LDz.
LDz Council Chairman Jānis Lange noted that the in the last several years the concern has experienced large-scale changes, and Šmuksts was one of the people who directed these changes.
After Šmuksts’ resignation from his post in the board of LDz, the board will consist of Chairman Māris Kleinbergs and two board members: Vita Balode-Andrūsa and Rinalds Pļavnieks.
In December 2021 LDz council decided to organise a public selection process to find the fourth member. The process will commence soon.
According to information from Firmas.lv, Šmuksts first started working in LDz board in 2008.
LDz’s financial data for 2021 are available as of yet. However, the concern’s turnover in nine months of 2021 was EUR 174.368 million, which is 0.1% less when compared to the same period of 2020. The company’s profits reached EUR 4.472 million as opposed to losses suffered in the nine months of 2020.
LDz is in charge of maintaining public use railway infrastructure and is the parent company of Latvian Railway concern. The concern also includes six subsidiaries: LatRailNet, LDz Cargo, LDz Infrastructure, LDz Rolling Stock Service, LDz Security, as well as LDz Logistics.
