Latvian president: Kremlin brutally killed Navalny

Whatever your thoughts about Alexey Navalny as the politician, he was just brutally murdered by the Kremlin, Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs wrote on Twitter, stressing this is “a fact and that is something one should know about the true nature of Russia’s current regime”.
Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa mentioned on the social network that [Russian president Vladimir] Putin’s regime has imprisoned and tortured to death “one of the last symbols of democracy” in Russia. She invited Russia to cease repressions against political opposition and free all political prisoners.
Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Krišjānis Kariņš stressed on Twitter that Navalny’s death falls on the conscience of Putin’s “criminal regime”.
Saeima deputy Zanda Kalniņa-Lukaševica noted on Twitter that the news about Navalny’s death was terrible. She noted that Russia is completely responsible for murdering its citizens. According to her, the day will come when “justice will prevail”.
Latvia’s former Minister of Defence Artis Pabriks mentioned on Twitter that Navalny’s death is more proof of just how evil Russia’s regime truly is. He said he hopes one day western society and leaders understand this truth and that this understanding comes before the damage become irreversible.
“Unfortunately, Navalny’s death was expected. This is one more proof that Russia is cruel and the only way to live with it next door is to be strong enough to prevent an invasion. We can depend only on ourselves and our nearest neighbours, who do not have illusions and who will not betray,” said Pabriks.
