Latvian Pasažieru vilciens to chance brand name to Vivi after receiving new trains

Starting with Wednesday, the 29th of November, when Pasažieru vilciens (PV) is set to receive the first new electric trains manufactured by Škoda Vagonka, the company will start gradually changing its brand name to Vivi, as confirmed by PV representatives.
PV representatives explain that the name Vivi comes from the first two letters of the two words in Vienā vilcienā slogan. This slogan symbolises the movement between point A and point B in a fast, predictable and reliable manner.
The brand Vivi will be used in the interior design of new trains, the website, mobile app, as well as various informative and representative materials. Vivi is already adopted on the official website and mobile app. However, Vivi will appear on trains around mid-December.

The full brand adoption procedure is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.

PV representatives explain that the new brand borrows from the Vienā vilcienā line concept and shape of trains. It also borrows from PV’s graphic design. The shape of the letters also indicate movement forward, creating associations with a train car. The colour of the logo is yellow.
Development of a new logo cost EUR 3 900 (excluding VAT). In turn, the total cost of developing the interior and exterior colour design of electric trains, the new logo and visual guidelines cost EUR 34 100 excluding VAT.
The procurement was done in 2019. The cheapest price was selected. The service was provided by Teika Design Studio from Printipegeons LLC.
In May 202 PV registered trademarks Vivi Latvija and Vivi in the Patent Office. PV owns both and their registration will remain in force until the 4th of February 2030. It was stressed at the time that the company plans to replace its logo, not it’s name.
In November 2023 the Ministry of Transport announced that Latvia has successfully received 18 new trains. They are currently undergoing testing before they can be deployed on the railway network.
It is planned for Czech Škoda Vagonka to supply 23 electric trains to Latvia before the end of 2023 and another nine in 2024.
Each electric train consists of four cars. The length of one electric train is 109 m. Each train has enough seats for 436 passengers and standing space for 454 passengers. There is one level boarding on trains from elevated passenger platforms.
As previously reported, in the first half-year of 2023 PV’s turnover was EUR 23.405 million, which is 10.2% more when compared to the same period of 2022. The company’s profits went up by 3%, reaching EUR 442 733.
