Latvian National Alliance loses member to New Unity

MEP from Latvia and ex-Minister of Culture Dace Melbārde has left the National Alliance and has joined New Unity, as confirmed by the party.
The decision to add Melbārde to the party’s ranks was made by New Unity’s board unanimously.
Melbārde joined the political party National Alliance in 2014. She was elected to the 12th and 13th Saeima from this party’s list.

She currently serves as MEP. She was elected to the European Parliament from National Alliance in 2019.

Commenting on her decision to join New Unity, Melbārde said the party’s and her own vision for Latvian and European values and development priorities was the decisive factor.
«In the heart of this vision is Latvia as a national, European and democratic country with united and educated political nation the core of which is composed of Latvian language as state language, national culture and human values.»
Melbārde reports she will continue working at the European Parliament with focus on education, culture, media and youth policy topics in Europe and Latvia.
