Latvian Ministry of Defence urges residents to not travel to Russia due to possible terror attacks in the next 48 hours. Residents already in Russia are warned about avoiding mass gatherings in Moscow, according to the ministry’s entry on X (formerly Twitter).
It is stated on the website of the ministry that, because of the tense international security situation, as well as “unpredictable development of internal politics in Russia”, the ministry urges Latvian citizens to refrain from travelling to Russia. Those already in this country are urged to depart as soon as possible.
Latvian citizens currently staying in Russia are urged to be careful and avoid public places, because information from the US embassy in Moscow states that there is a possibility of terror acts in Moscow in the next 48 hours. Latvian Ministry of Defence stresses that the country’s ability to provide its citizens with consular aid in Russia is limited.
LETA previously reported that the US embassy in Russia has reached out to its citizens, urging them to avoid public places with many people gathered there due to the risk of terror attacks in Moscow in the next 48 hours. The warning was published on the embassy’s website.
The embassy did not publish any details about any possible terror attacks in Moscow.
