Commenting the dismissal request from the National Alliance (NA), in which the party accuses the minister of the inability to take responsibility and attempts to pass responsibility onto others. The Saeima will view the request on Thursday, the 7th of February, said Kaspars Briškens in an interview to LTV programme Rīta panorāma.
He also mentioned he is confident he will retain his post in the end.
“I am confident because coalition partners, my colleagues, and countless industry cooperation organisations are well aware what we have inherited. I believe they also appreciate the fact that I’ve not tried to avoid speaking about these problems,” said the minister.
Briškens also said he will be present at the Saeima meeting that will address the situation with NA’s request for his dismissal. There he will report on what the industry inherited,
as well as explain the situation in many fields, including the situation with Rail Baltica, Czech Škoda Vagonka trains, as well as the situation with road traffic safety.
“I believe all of us understand very well that there are many ongoing fires in the transport sector. The most important task is mobilising for joint efforts to overcome these challenges,” said the minister.
Briškens also mentioned that until now the transport sector was left to fend for itself.
On Thursday the Saeima will decide on a no-confidence vote for the minister of transport.
