Latvian expert: Avdiivka’s size will grow multiple times in Kremlin’s propaganda

The size of the recently captured Avdiivka will grow several times in Kremlin’s propaganda, said the Chief of NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence Jānis Sārts.
He said that when looking at Russia’s initial goals when their armies invaded Ukraine, the Kremlin has failed. However, looking at expectations from western countries from a year ago, it can be said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has at least some success on the front. All of this will be used in propaganda on the anniversary of the start of the war and in the president’s election show.

“Avdijivka’s size will grow multiple times through propaganda,” Sārts predicts.

According to him, the public talks about the start of peace talks between Ukraine and Russia could prove to be a situation in which we could say that Putin has succeeded in something – Russia would benefit from a pause in the war to reinforce its army.
Sārts believes Baltic States have become inconvenient for Kremlin’s propaganda because of limited broadcasting capabilities. Nevertheless, Kremlin is trying to spread the idea of the inevitability of the war spreading, NATO StratCom chief claims.
In Avdiivka’s direction Russia’s forces will have to maintain an operational pause before continuing the attack or they will have to relocate reinforcements from other sectors of the front to prevent the offensive from slowing down, according to experts of the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
After taking the city, the speed of Russian offensive operation will go down significantly, according to the latest report from the US think tank.
Russians have reserves in other sectors of the front to stabilise forces. However, ISW hasn’t noticed any signs of Russian headquarters relocating forces towards Avdiivka.
According to Head of the press service of the operationally strategic group Khortytsya of the Ukrainian army Illia Yevlash, Russian headquarters will likely the forces currently concentrated around Avdiivka to other sectors of the front.
This would require at least a week, said Yevlash.
