From 17th to the 19th of December Latvian embassy in Japan and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia will be holding Latvian Days at the Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, Japan. This event is organised to honour the 100th anniversary of the friendship established between Latvia and Japan, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This event will allow every resident of Tokyo to find out about Latvia’s culture and modern accomplishments together with Christmas traditions.
Online concerts featuring Latvian and Japanese performers are planned for the 11th and 12th December. Among them are Raimonds Pauls and singer Tokiko Kato, NHK Tokyo Children’s Choir, Balti kokle ensemble, The Sound Poets band and others.
Visitors of Latvian Days event will be able to participate in meal preparation activities under chef Mārtiņš Sirmais. There will also be online meetings with gold medal winners of Tokyo Olympics in 3×3 basketball discipline Agnis Čavars, Edgars Krūmiņš, Kārlis Lasmanis and Nauris Miezis, presentations about innovative solutions and goods Latvian businesses offer on the Japanese market and enjoy a wonderful Christmas atmosphere at the event.
Latvian Days will also feature an online business forum and tourism webinars in Tokyo. A special programme for children is also planned, featuring Latvian-made animated films and workshops.
Roppongi Hills is a complex located in one of the most prestigious entertainment centres in Tokyo. The foot traffic exceeds 100 000 people every day. This is the first time Latvia has organised an event of this scale in Japan.
