In the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest held in Basel, Switzerland, the Latvian ethno-music group Tautumeitas secured a spot in the grand final with their song “Bur man laimi”. The final will take place on Saturday, May 17.
Alongside Latvia, the following countries also qualified for the final: Lithuania, Israel, Armenia, Denmark, Austria, Luxembourg, Finland, Malta, and Greece. Meanwhile, Australia, Montenegro, Ireland, Georgia, Czechia, and Serbia did not advance.
The grand final on May 17 will also feature France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Germany, which automatically qualify due to being the biggest financial contributors to the contest. Host country Switzerland, as last year’s winner, is also directly qualified.
In the first semi-final, 15 countries competed, and the qualifiers were Estonia, Norway, Albania, Sweden, Iceland, the Netherlands, Poland, San Marino, Portugal, and Ukraine. Slovenia, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Croatia, and Cyprus did not make it to the final.
Eurovision 2024 was held in Malmö, Sweden, and was won by Nemo Metler, representing Switzerland with the song “The Code”. As a result, Switzerland is hosting the 2025 contest.
