Latvia lifts Covid-19 certificate or test requirement for foreign entrants

From 1 April 2022 onward the requirement for foreigners and other entrants to Latvia to present a valid Covid-19 vaccination or recovery certificate or a negative Covid-19 test result will no longer be in place. This requirement will apply only travellers entering the country from countries with particularly high Covid-19 infection risks.
Latvia’s Disease Prevention and Control Centre (SPKC) has yet to list such countries, reports Ministry of Transport.
On Tuesday, 29 March, the government decided certificates or negative Covid-19 tests will be necessary only when travelling to Latvia from especially high-risk countries. Especially high-risk countries are countries in which epidemiological situation is on a level that can cause serious risks for public health. SPKC composes and updates this list, and currently there are no countries on it.
At the same time, when entering Latvia from especially high-risk countries, the requirement to present a valid certificate or negative test will not apply to:
children under the age of 12;
employees of transport and passenger carrying service providers;
sailors who have to travel to and from their ship;
airline passengers who pass Latvia in transit without leaving the airport terminal and have a valid confirmation of their flight within the next 24 hours;
Ukrainian citizens and their family members who have left Ukraine due to Russian aggression.
Considering security measures differ from country to country, travellers are urged to check information about the security requirements set in their destination and transit countries.
Currently travel to Latvia requires a valid vaccination or recovery certificate or a negative Covid-19 test.
