Latvia and Kazakhstan work on development of positive mutual economic relations

Latvian and Kazakh representatives participating in political consultations welcome the positive developments in the development of mutual economic relations, stressing the positive influence from both countries’ ministries and businesses on the overall push towards cooperation, reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On Thursday, the 23rd of November, Riga hosted Latvian-Kazakh consultations. During this event, Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs deputy state secretary Andžejs Viļumsons and Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Valilenko discussed existing topics related to mutual relations, development of economic cooperation,

and both countries’ cooperation in international organisations.

Both officials discussed topical regional and international matters. They also discussed the progress with the improvement of the bilateral legal framework, as well as confirmed interest in organising an Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in 2024.
Consultations also touched on topics related to the development of relations between the European Union and Central Asia,

including activities intended to promote connectivity between the two regions.

Previous Latvian-Kazakh political consultations were held in Astana in 2022.
