In January 2024 the number of new registrations of cars in Latvia went down by 12.3%, putting the country among nine other European Union (EU) member states in which such a drop was observed, according to the latest data from European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
According to this data, there were 1 202 new cars registered in the country in January.
The most rapid drop among EU countries was observed in Denmark (-14.9%), Estonia (-11.1%), Finland (-8.2%) and Austria (-6.9%) in January.
The biggest increase was observed in Norway (+175.5%), Croatia (+30.7%), Bulgaria (+24.4%) and Poland (+22.1%). In Lithuania the number of newly registered cars increased by 2.4% in January 2024.
The average number of cars registered in the EU in January went up by 12.1%. In countries surveyed by ACEA the rise was 11.5%.
ACEA compiled data on new registrations of cars in EU countries, as well as Iceland, Norway and Switzerland and Britain.
