In the last months, controversies sparked around West. It started when he attended Paris Fashion Week with a T-shirt that bore the text White Lives Matter. It is a slogan that radical right organizations started using in 2015 as an opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement, and this slogan holds fairly racist undertones. However, West said that critics received payments from secret Jewish organizations and their accusations are unfair.
Later another scandal sparked after it came to light that West with various actions created a toxic environment for Adidas employees who worked with him on his shoe brand Yeezy.
This West’s campaign seems to be simultaneously strange and quite interesting. He claimed that has asked Donald Trump to become his co-runner for president, but Trump was not delighted with this idea. In 2020, West announced participating in elections very late and wasn’t on ballots in at least six states. This time he started timely and enlisted alt-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos as his campaign manager. Yiannopoulos has a history of very controversial public opinions, but politics isn’t an unknown field for him. He has worked as an intern for Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
