To make seaside experience even safer for families with children, Jurmala municipal administration has developed special bracelet for children to wear. These special bracelets are for children and will include their parents’ contact information in case the child becomes lost, as reported by Jurmala administration.
These bracelets will become available starting with Friday, 22 July.
Considering that rescuers are called in most often when children become separated from their parents for one reason or another. These bracelets will make it easier for rescuers to find children in such situations.
Bracelets will be available at rescue stations in Majori, Bulduri and Kauguri beaches.
Jurmala municipal police will also offer them to visitors at the beach.
Despite all these precautionary measures, the safety of children at the beach is primarily the duty their parents, says chief of Jurmala municipal police’s Safety on water and Civil Protection office Rinalds Liepiņš.
«Leisure on the beach near water has certain risks, and parents must not lose sight of their children for a second – this is the only sure guarantee of their safety,» stresses Liepiņš.
The service reminds that children under the age of 12 are not allowed to go in the water without parental supervision.
If a child goes missing on the beach, it is important to immediately report it to rescuers – the sooner the search starts, the less stressful the whole ordeal will be for parents and their children.
