Two more foreign content creators are expected to visit Latvia this year, according to the Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA).
In August, French influencer Escapadeur, who has 80,000 followers on TikTok, is scheduled to visit Latvia, and in the fall, German content creator Fabian Moritz Bageler, followed by 2.8 million people, is also expected.
LIAA points out that this summer, several internationally known content creators visited Latvia – both journalists and internet personalities. These included Matt Charlton, a representative of the British magazine Condé Nast Traveller UK, which reaches an audience of 5.5 million readers.
Also sharing their experience of visiting Latvia were Polish influencer Anna Moleda and Belgian traveler Gert van Wijhelen. According to LIAA, the respective media outlets in Poland and Belgium each reach over one million people.
LIAA emphasizes that cooperation with content creators makes it possible to engage different travel segments
in various countries beyond traditional exhibitions and ad campaigns. Collaboration with digital personalities is also a way to reach audiences that cannot be accessed through conventional channels.
In this context, IShowSpeed visited Latvia in mid-July. His spontaneous livestream from Latvia drew more than 120,000 viewers in real time and has accumulated over 7.6 million views as a recording, the agency explains.
LIAA continues to work on a long-term strategy to attract internationally recognized media and digital content creators in order to maintain and boost Latvia’s tourism indicators.
As previously reported by LETA, due to IShowSpeed’s vast follower base,
the Baltic States jointly agreed to treat his visit as an opportunity to promote the Baltics as a tourism destination,
each contributing 30,000 euros to cover the costs.
IShowSpeed, also known as Darren Jason Watkins Jr., has over 42 million subscribers on his YouTube channel.
Given his influence and potential to reach a global audience, LIAA representatives contacted the influencer’s team to leverage the visit to raise Latvia’s international visibility.
During his visit to Riga, IShowSpeed livestreamed for two hours, visiting several local landmarks including Āgenskalns Market, Victory Park, the Freedom Monument, and Dome Square.
Darren Jason Watkins Jr., widely known as IShowSpeed or simply Speed, is an American YouTube content creator, internet personality, and livestreamer with a global audience.
