Isamaa – kingmaker in Estonia’s new government building

After Estonian prime minister Kaja Kallas dismissed all ministers of the Centre Party in the Reform Party-Centre Party government, the national conservative Isamaa has been offered to join building the next government of Estonia, ERR reports.
Kallas announced the split with the Centre Party last week after the members of parliament of the junior coalition party voted against a draft law previously supported in the government.
Helir-Valdor Seeder, lead member of the opposition Isamaa party, commented to ERR that his party would rather meet with sides to both potential coalitions: one from Centre Party and the other from the Reform Party.

Isamaa has become the kingmaker to consult the Reform Party and Social Democrats on the one hand and Centre Party and the Conservative People’s Party (EKRE) on the other. Isamaa leader noted that all they have is a proposal to launch talks, while it remains unclear what the different parties look forward to in the next government.
«We want input and to learn what the other parties are after. To clarity treatments and expectations. I believe that saying «yes» to one group without even talking to the other or recognizing that a proposal has been made would be an example of very poor political culture,» ERR quoted Seeder as saying.
