Prices of Christmas trees largely remain on the previous year’s level, as LETA was told by interviewed sellers.
Sellers say that demand for Christmas trees has increased. Latvian residents have purchased more of them than last year.
“Egļu serviss” LLC representative told LETA that most often residents buy “Nordmann” spruce trees between 1.75 m to 2.25 m, as well as spruce trees in pots up to 1.5 m in length.
“E-glītes.lv” LLC representative mentioned that households most often choose Christmas trees between 1.5 m and 2 m in length. Legal persons, on the other hand, prefer taller trees – 2.5 m to 3 m – to set up in halls or outside.
“Egļu piegāde” LLC owner Jānis Skroderis reported that potted Christmas trees are becoming more and more popular, especially 1.2 m and 1.4 m long ones. Cut down Christmas trees, on the other hand, are more popular in the 2.5 m to 5 m length. He also said demand usually surges closer to the holiday. “Private persons more often purchase Christmas trees under 2.5 m,” he added.
The prices at “Egļu piegāde” have increased slightly this year. Skroderis explains this with increased spruce tree growing and operational costs.
“Meža dārza serviss” LLC Sales Manager Sanda Cikanoviča explained that prices have increased for Christmas trees longer than three meters, due to an increase in transport, labour and also procurement costs. At the same time, she noted that prices remained unchanged for trees up to three meters long.
Cikanoviča noted that “Nordmann” are the most popular Christmas trees. Buyers usually prefer 2 m or shorter trees.
