Hooligans damage the facade of Museum of the Occupation of Latvia

Approximately 17 m2 of the glass portions of the facade of the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia was damaged in a recent attack by hooligans, as reported by the museum’s representative Harita Maniņa.
State Police have been informed of the incident. An investigation has commenced.
Police confirm that on Monday, the 3rd of April, a call was received from the museum. A criminal procedure over destruction or damaging of property has commenced.
The museum’s building was commissioned after a lengthy renovation in August 2021. The author of the renovation project is a well-known US-born Latvian architect Gunārs Birkerts. The museum presented a new exposition on the 1st of June 2022.
The Museum of the Occupation of Latvia is a state accredited private museum that was founded in 1993. It is maintained and managed by public benefit organization Latvian Occupation Museum Society. The mission of this museum is the educate and remind people about the occupation of Latvia in the 20th century.
