Heat to abate in Latvia this week; weather expected to become cooler

The beginning of the new work week will remain hot and dry. Starting with Tuesday, 30 August, however, colder masses of air will start flowing to Latvia from the west. Rain and thunderstorms are expected, as reported by Latvian State Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.
On Monday weather will remain hot in Latvia – daytime air temperature will reach +25° C… +30° C. Wind speed will be low and no precipitation is expected.
On the night to Tuesday a cyclone will form above the Baltic Sea, which will bring rain and thunderstorms to most of Latvia. The wind will blow from the north-east and north. Along the coast wind speed may reach 15-16 m/sec.
Colder masses of air will flow to the country together with cold air – air temperature will not exceed +20° C… +21° C on Tuesday.
On Wednesday weather will be cloudy. Some short-term rain is expected in some areas of the country. The wind will blow from the north. Air temperature will remain at +15° C… +20° C during the day and +7° C… +11° C at night.

Knowledge Day will be cool.

Weather expected to be cloudy. It will rain from time to time in central and eastern regions. With northern winds, daytime air temperature will reach only +12° C… +17° C.
