German president promises his country’s armed forces will guard Baltic States

Baltic States can rely on Germany to keep them safe, said Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said during his visit to Estonia on Wednesday, the 15th of March.
«NATO is prepared to defend every square centimetre of its members’ soil. We are together with Baltic States and we affirm our commitment to providing support. You can depend on Germany,» said Steinmeier during his visit of Ämari Air Base, where German fighter jets participating in NATO Baltic air space patrolling mission are stationed.
He stressed that Germany, US and Britain are countries

that have sent the most troops for the defence of NATO’s eastern flank.

During his visit to Estonia, Steinmeier has plans to meet with Estonia’s President Alar Karis and Estonian PM Kaja Kallas.
