Frosty nights and slightly milder days in Latvia: weather forecast for the coming days

On Thursday, skies will be partly cloudy and no precipitation is expected. A light to moderate easterly wind will blow. Night-time air temperatures will mostly fall to –8…–13°C, with –3…–7°C in coastal areas and down to –15…–16°C in the eastern parts of the country. Daytime temperatures will be somewhat milder at –5…–10°C, and –3…–5°C in some coastal areas, according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre.

On Friday, skies will remain partly cloudy, with cloud cover decreasing during the day. In the first half of the night, fog is expected in parts of Kurzeme, reducing visibility to 500–1000 metres. On Saturday, skies will become mostly cloudy, with only occasional clear spells. The weather will remain dry, with no precipitation. Air temperatures will not rise above –5°C, which is expected in some coastal areas of Kurzeme. In eastern regions, the thermometer may drop to as low as –18°C in places.

Meteorologists note that over the weekend, easterly winds will continue to bring cold air into Latvia, meaning that a thaw is not expected in the near future. However, at the beginning of next week, a northerly air flow is expected to bring more precipitation.
